I was checking out the highest mountain in Austria which is over 12,000 feet in elevation
I had thought that there were 14,000 foot peaks in Austria but I guess I was trying to compare the U.S. to Austria and they are two very different places. However, the lake at Zell Am See and the surrounding countryside is very very beautiful and we got to see the Fall colors in full Bloom.
I had always wanted to see the fall colors in full bloom on the East Coast but never was really able to do that. However, the wedding we attended in North Carolina on our way to Austria was pretty amazing too. However, as we were in Zell Am See with a room with a view of the lake there the colors were really popping amazingly all the time we were there. I think they were peaking when we left. Amazing colors of Gold, and Red leaves everywhere!
Here is the highest mountain in Austria. We saw this one while we were there and I think skiing had already opened up on a glacier there while we were still there. Above 9000 or 10,000 feet was almost always getting frosted by new snow nights while we were there. However, Luckily it didn't snow into town while we were there so I didn't have to drive in snow which I'm really grateful for because after all we were above 3000 Feet there in Zell Am See Austria.
