He is the grandfather of my son in law and still skis at age 80 and has 8 children total and my son in law is one of his many grandsons. It was an amazing experience for me simply because my relatives are scattered between Seattle and San Diego mostly so finding 150 people that are family in any one place wouldn't usually happen. The closest to this would be my cousin and his wife's 50th Anniversary from their Wedding in Los Angeles in 1969. They celebrated this in 2019. So, I think they have been married 56 years at this point and there were about 300 people for this event when I attended including all 9 of their grandchildren and their 3 children and their spouses.
So, this for me was a very rare event and a very amazing and magical experience being in a different culture than I have experienced in this way before. And since I am 77 myself and also have skied my whole life since age 15 I had something in common with him because I have been married 3 times with one child with each wife and I also have 4 grandchildren all of whom I am very close to still. So, we are both family men and very invested in our children and grandchildren.
Also, my father's line came from Zurich, Switzerland area to Philadelphia around 1725. So, my relatives (my father's line) settled America from Philadelphia to Kansas to Seattle between 1725 and the early 1900s. My grandfather bought 2 1/2 acres of land in Lake Forest park with Apple and cherry trees and and raspberries and boysenberries there in 1927 and a house.
