I've lost about 20 pounds so far since January 4th 2026

I was forced onto a Chicken broth diet with jello and orange juice and Apple juice and lemonade for around 5 days starting in the hospital and slowly progressed to adding Oatmeal and then mashed potatoes to this and then butter. The first 5 days it was like fasting and so walking or driving a car was hard or not practical at all much. But, when I discovered the Power Core protein Shakes my brain started working again and driving a car was safe enough to do sometimes. So, by the 2nd week life was a little better.

However, eliminating Rice (because it converts to blood sugar and prevents you from losing weight and not eating ANY gluten of any kind and eliminating all meat and dairy except for Yoghurst and not eating ANY gluten including bread, rolls, muffins, Cakes, pasta or anything gluten really can take the pounds off if you want to lose weight or you are dealing with health issues.

So, losing 20 pounds so far is really surprising.

However, I think the most surprising thing is after I lost 10 pounds I could give up completely furosemide for edema mostly because I had reduced my salt intake to almost zero. Because salt causes you to retain water.

So, since the hospital my body has changed and drinking more water is only cleansing and not making my edema worse at all so I haven't had to take Furosemide or Potassium to stay alive since December 2025 now.

However, I cannot promise you that you will have the same experience as I have if you do this. I think each body might be very individual in some ways.

For me, the problem with Furosemide is that it might make you hallucinate some at night if you are taking it twice a day and a friend of mine thinks Furosemide made his girlfriend enter senile dementia.

So, for me, not having to take Furosemide for edema at all during this process is a real Godsend!

The other interesting thing is when you don't eat ANY gluten and you are my age 77 it takes about 80% of my arthritis pain out of my hands. The worst pain for me is from my thumbs which makes it hard to open jars a lot. But now, I'm having much less problem opening a jar without excruciating pain in my thumbs.

I did a lot of building and construction work from age 12 to my mid 40s a lot and started doing Electrical Work with my father summers starting age 12 and he paid me very well for this so I could buy things like motorized Mini bikes with 2 1/2 horsepower engines by age 12 to 14 and to buy my first car at age 16 in 1964 which was a 1956 Ford Station Wagon I called my Surf Wagon.

Anyway though this is a very austere diet in many ways I'm losing weight and my health in general is getting better so basically I'm more amazed than anything else at this point.
