Writing can be very healing

I was thinking about the ways in which I have healed myself over the years and thought I might write about how to do this.

In my late teens and early 20s I wrote song lyrics and since I started piano lessons at age 8 and took lessons until I was 16 I got pretty good on Keyboards. In fact, I played music in church from age 12 to age 21 on both a Concert Grand Piano at our church and also a Baldwin Organ. Though I have also had a chance to play a Pipe Organ once in Santa Fe, New Mexico that my organ teacher arranged when I was finishing High School (my senior year) in a church school there, mostly I played in church and played the Baldwin Organ or a Concert Grand Piano in the Los Angeles church where I attended.

So, then in my late teens I taught myself to play guitar (both acoustic and Electric) and flutes both metal and plastic (I never played wooden flutes much except some native American ones). except a few from Junior High when I played violin in the orchestra.

However, eventually around age 14 My hands got too big to be a good violinist so I gave up the violin after studying in grade school from age 9 on the violin and playing in school orchestras from  age 9 to age 14. However, the frets of a guitar worked for me better than the no frets of a violin which takes smaller hands than mine. (I presently am 6 foot 5 inches tall with big feet and hands (I presently wear a size 15 shoe (in Crocs I wear size 17 because I have wide feet and they don't do width sizes.

The point with writing lyrics is I found I could heal myself a lot which began a path for me of writing things more.

This song I found the lyrics very healing when I wrote it around 1969. In fact, a friend of mine first recorded this on his first album in the key of C around that time too or maybe 70 or 71. It is so far back now he did it on a tape cassette which people were starting to use for albums more then before CDs or DVDs. He has made countless professional music albums since then and still performs with his girlfriend and sometimes other friends.

Here is the song lyrics and I created a song in the key of C because that is usually the easiest key to write a song in.

Together Again

I feel your love
flow into us
Oh Dear Christ
at last the time has come
when we're together again
verse:
Together Again
Together again
Oh Lord, Together
Together Again
Together Again
The Christs are together Again
end first verse:
Now, Now, the time is now
To give your love
Now, Now, the time is now
To give your love to all
Because: above Verse again
Life has waited patiently
to let the Gods awake
Now the Time the Christ has said
The Gods must now awake
We're: Verse above again
Hearts of my heart
Souls of my soul
awaken to what you are
each of us must be the Christ
And live his Mighty Song
We're: one last verse from above

end quote:

Looking back from now this sounds pretty cosmic and very 1960s in some ways but it still touches my heart to read these lyrics or to sing this song on Guitar or Piano.

But, if you read the lyrics it definitely sounds like California Cosmic of the 1960s and early 1970s doesn't it.

God permeated people's lives then more than now especially in the U.S.

I think now it has to do with God was all we had to survive World War II and the Great Depression and the Korean War and the Viet Nam War back then.

Medical and psychological technology wasn't what is is today. So, there wasn't much to count on except God and Angels and Jesus and Mary and all that if you lived in the U.S. then.

But, then my generation added to the mystical Christian ideas the ideas of Buddhism, Brahmanism and in all sorts of directions like Lao Tzu too then.

But, I'm not sure that people born after about 1978 or so understand anything about this at all.
