Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017)

During the Christmas season my wife bought a copy of Valerian and the City of a thousand planets on Blue Ray. but we didn't watch it then but watched it instead tonight. If you liked "The Fifth Element" in the 1990s this is also made by Luc Besson of France. It has a similar feel to it in the fantastic special effects. It's almost worth watching just for the very artistic special effects. You feel like you are inside a Science fiction comic book in a good way during this movie.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017)

They said this is adapted from Valerian and Laureline. If you are expecting Star Wars or Star Trek you will be soundly disappointed. But, if you are expecting "the 5th element" sort of reminding you a little bit of Guardians of the Galaxy with a variation of the Navi'i thrown in with a lot of kitch and amazing special effects you just might like this movie. It's definitely a different kind of movie but my wife and I loved it for what it was: entertaining with amazing special effects. Is it a kitchy love story? Yes. But it is also very entertaining as long as you aren't expecting Star Wars or Star Trek you are going to be just fine.

To be fair, how hard must it be to act, for almost an entire movie, against nothing but a green screen?
