The war according to Trump is between saving nurses, doctors and coronavirus patients or saving the economy of the U.S. It's true that nations like South Korea never closed Schools or businesses and instead got everyone to wear masks.
Masks prevent people who have the virus from spreading it but everyone wearing a mask means no one can spread it if every one does wear a mask even if you don't know which people are infected because they don't have symptoms. Then South Korea made everyone in restaurants face the same direction. No one could face each other. This way no one could cough in another person's face because no one was ever in front of them to cough on.
In addition they used Oxygen therapy to keep death rates low too. If you look at South Korea's numbers whatever they did worked because as of today they have NO NEW DEATHS or new cases.
Maybe people need to look more closely at what South Korea did right?
It's true we are a different society and culture but maybe we need to learn how to keep businesses and schools open without infecting everyone like we seem to be doing here in the U.S. Look how fast it's spreading in New York for example even with all businesses and schools closed.
This is thousands of times worse for New York State than 9-11 so far in what we are looking towards this next month or two or more there.
I'm thinking it is the "Nearness of Death".
What I mean by this is the U.S. on the mainland has NOT faced a war since the Civil War On the American mainland of the 48 states or even in Alaska. Only Hawaii was attacked in World War II and in World War I the war was completely in Europe not the U.S.
So, fighting an actual war like we are now for citizens to stay alive like now we haven't experienced since the Civil War. No one was there that is still alive! NO ONE IS ALIVE WHO LIVED THROUGH THE CIVIL WAR!
So, this is what is wrong with this picture. No one is left alive who has ever experienced a war for the survival of the people inside the nation. Soldiers have ONLY fought wars outside the nation so the citizens left here are like Children in Disneyland in some ways. They aren't prepared for this. Look at Teenagers going to parties and to the beach in large groups. They have no idea what is really going on in any serious way.
This is why we aren't doing this very well yet.
There are still people who remember the Korean War in South Korea where families were destroyed. They still remember how to survive things like this whereas Americans on the mainland except for the American Military have forgotten because most people weren't alive during World War II now. Even I at age 71 wasn't born until 3 years after World War II ended.
No one alive remembers the Civil War who was actually there then. So, most people have no idea how to deal with death on the level we are facing now among our cities like New York City now. No one is really prepared for this at all (Except for maybe veterans of wars outside the U.S if their PTSD isn't too bad).
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
