Here is what I learned today

First, the U.S. has the single largest group of Christians in the world living here at I believe it is 245 Million Christians (more than any other single nation on earth).

2nd, I learned that Osama Bin Laden attacked us on 9-11 because of something that happened in 1918 when the Ottoman Empire (the Sunni Caliphate) was collapsed at the end of the First World War. He called this revenge for a humiliating defeat.

3rd, because the U.S. would likely be considered the Christian (Caliphate?) but because it is Christian rather than Muslim it would be an abomination to someone like Osama Bin Laden and ISIL.

So, for Bin Laden, attacking the U.S. on 9-11 he was taking revenge on all Christian nations for destroying his Sunni religions Caliphate (successor to Mohammed) in 1918.

However, this just wouldn't have made much sense to anyone including me in 2001. However, today with ISIL establishing another Caliphate in northern Syria and Northern Iraq it makes much more sense.

So, for example, if any Christian nation destroyed the new Caliphate the U.S. would be likely to expect a future 9-11 in revenge for that from future Bin Laden clones.

However, if Iran with Russia's help did this then Iran and Russia would be experiencing successive 9-11 events into the future from ISIL devotees similar to Osama bin Laden for centuries to come.

But, there is also a problem with this. Because Russia is now considered by Sunnis a "Christian Nation" again and Shias and Christians are considered an abomination by Sunnis. So, both Iran, Russia and the U.S. likely would be "punished" in centuries to come for destroying the Sunni Caliphate in northern Syria and Northern Iraq.

However, I don't think any of this would have made much sense to most of us here in the U.S. in 2001.
