IT would be very easy to blame Iran and Russia and Assad in Syria. But, in some ways they are just scapegoats to problems festering since the 600s AD when Mohammed was alive. Then we add to this mix overpopulation which means people under 35 don't have jobs (at least 50% don't or more) and this means they can't get married either) so this is really going to contribute to unrest. If you are one of the 50% unemployed remember there is no social welfare system in place, so you either move to europe illegally or you have to become some sort of criminal or terrorist or you just eventually starve to death and die. (Your choice). Then, the middle east has also become a place of proxy wars for Russia and the U.S. in Syria and now Iraq. But, because of ISIL killing everyone they dont' like (including some Sunnis not extreme enough for them) this only makes everything more insane for everyone there.
So, when you add all these things together we likely are looking at a middle east on fire until about 1/2 or more or less of the population there has either died, left or become criminals to survive or whatever. (So, 10 to 20 years of the middle east being on fire more or less). So, this is what is really going on there in reality rather than the fantasy you hear on the news everyday.
