I'm looking at a polarization chart of the house of representatives

The House of Representatives was never more polarized than it is right now, except during reconstruction after the Civil War. So, it hasn't been this bad since about 1888 to 1904 to 1912 as it is right now. The least polarized the House of Representatives  was from 1944 until around 1976 by the way. And this also is when Congress was able to get the most stuff done by the way. For example, the Civil Rights Bill was passed in the middle of the least polarized the House had ever been in 200 years.

Right now the polarization is worse than during Reconstruction after the Civil War, for example.

From this kind of polarization could come another bloody Civil War at some point unless Americans find some issue that they agree on that is more important than the present polarizations.

In other words unless Americans can find one issue that they can all agree on the U.S. could be over in 10 or 20 years time.
