So, when the Saudis say they don't want war it is not likely completely believable. Mostly what the Saudis wanted likely was to punish Iran so they could more easily defeat Iran once Iran was more economically on the ropes like now. It's not that I support either Iran or Saudi Arabia in this, it's just I think it might be useful to be logical right now about the whole thing.
So, the Saudis convinced Trump to end the Iran deal and then the Israelis (who are also aligned with the Saudis against Iran) also have been helped by Trump to further defeat and humiliate the Palestinians. And strangely enough, the Palestinians are aligned with Iran and Russia too. So, all this is pretty strange from any point of view you might have. And of course Iran is aligned with Russia under Putin.
So, what is really going on here?
I'm not sure anyone knows fully.
However, we might just find out any day now if missiles start flying between Iran and Saudi Arabia or between Iran and the U.S. or any third party at this point.
Also, what is Putin going to do about all this?
This might be the most important question of all.
And then secondarily what is China going to do in all this?
This might be important to know too.
