This makes the most logical sense regarding all this. Putin is manipulating Trump with something he has on him (or Putin has threatened Trump's life or his finances in some way) to the point where Trump is willing to flush the U.S. and China down the toilet so save his own rear end.
Because there really isn't much sense to this trade war otherwise. It's true the two biggest economic competitive units on earth are now China and the U.S. and this might be another way to look at this as the trade war being part of this economic competition for supremacy.
However, with 1.4 billion people and the U.S. at only 327 million we are less than 1/4 the population of China and their wages are much lower than ours too so it would be difficult to compete because they can manufacture things at a lower cost per unit than we can in the world market.
So, it's hard to see how we could compete in unit cost at the very least of any product. However, in the market of ideas and inventions, the U.S. has always excelled just because of the innovative way Americans have always been. But, the Chinese send people to steal these ideas as fast as they are created and take them back to China to implement them too. So, all this is also going on in real time too.
Trump trying to impose his rules or will on China just isn't going to work. They don't follow anyone's rules but their own but then again they have been like this for about 6000 years too as a culture.
So, trying to change them now is kind of silly from a historical perspective.
You can either deal with them or fight with them, these are the world's only two choices and always have been.
