"Look in my Aura and tell me what's going on"

I remember someone telling me to lie about stuff to remain in my church and I thought to myself: "Why would they want to live a lie?" Either they believe what's happening in your church or you should leave your church. So, I was surprised that most people approached their church the way they would their school or their job which I thought at the time was ridiculous. To me at least, what I believed was sacrosanct and if I couldn't be honest about my beliefs to myself then no church would be helpful to me ever in any way, shape or form. However, the people around me seemed to see their church that I attended much like they would a White Only Country Club at the time. This wouldn't and couldn't work for me because either I believed what the church was saying or I didn't. There was no middle ground.

So, today when a friend of mine recounted how a friend who managed Rock and Roll Groups in 1969 talked to the leader of the church when she asked him if he ever smoked marijuana or  anything else   he said, "Look into my aura and tell me what's going on".

OF course he called the leader of the church I was raised in's bluff because she couldn't answer this question.

To me, this is just a trick answer to a question that possibly no one might have the right to ask you in the first place for a variety of reasons.

But, at that time people were being kicked out of churches (all types of Christian churches) for having smoked or even tried marijuana even once. So, if you said yes you left your church for good and all your friends never to be allowed to speak to any of them ever again. So, this was a really big deal for people at that time.

Today such a thing is ridiculous to ask people because there would literally be "NO ONE" who hadn't smoked or tried marijuana at least once in their lives. However, this was 1969 after all and not now.

If this were still a rule there could be no one in any church now in the U.S. if this were still the criteria now. Because literally any one who has been to college between 1965 and the present hasn't tried marijuana at least once.

I personally don't think having marijuana legal is a good thing for the people consuming it. There is only two reasons why I think having legal is a good thing regarding jail time and people being murdered. So, at least now 50,000 people aren't being murdered over marijuana and cocaine on the Mexico and U.S. border. And people in states where it is legal are not going to jail if the amount of marijuana is small enough and they have obtained the legal right to have and consume that amount with their state. However, I think that there are many many problems associated with the types of marijuana being consumed today that are not being addressed by anyone. For example, there are hybrid types of marijuana that are more dangerous to people than LSD for example. Also, what about children finding their parents marijuana because it is legal for the parent to have. So, in some ways regarding people consuming marijuana this is I think a very bad thing for the U.S.
