Growing Spiritually:

To me, means that one can learn through all the experiences that they have during their lives. And that they not only learn from their mistakes that they can learn from everyone else's mistakes as well.

It reminds me of the old joke of the young couple going deep into the Himalayas looking for a Guru and finding the Holy man meditating in a cave high in the Himalayan mountains. They asked him what is the Secret of Life?

He said, "Good Decisions"

Then they said, "But, how does one learn to make good decisions?"

He said, "Bad Decisions".

So, from this point of view we learn to make good decisions often after having made bad decisions first.

To me, it is a complete miracle that Anyone grows up to see 20 and even a more stupendous miracle that anyone lives to 30 or beyond. Because of all the awful things you have to endure and to figure out how to survive to get that far.

That's why they say, "And it's pretty much true of people here in the U.S." that "If you live to be 30 then you can pretty much expect to live to be 90". This isn't universally true but many many people make it to at least 90 including my mother, her two sisters and their mother. And my two grandparents on my father's side and my great Grandfather and Grandmother on my father's side made it way past 90 and my Great Grandmother made it into her 100s too.

So, learning how to make good decisions is the biggest trick in life to learn.

For example, people often want to meet their mate in High School or before and be with them all their life. This is beautiful of course but what usually happens is one of them dies at some point and the other one usually dies within a year or two especially if they are over 70 or 80.

So, I would say growing spiritually is about learning from everything in your life that happens to you and learning from everything people tell you about their lives especially your parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles. All these stories are often important to your future survival too.

Like for example now, the stories of surviving the Great Depression and World War II I find are very helpful in surviving our present government and the Coronavirus.

Many many people are just not going to make it through these times. You can see the writing on the wall. So, being adaptable and learning from all mistakes yours and everyone else's will be key to your survival and the survival of your children and grandchildren too. God Bless You and Good Luck!
