This will take weeks and months for some people who didn't take electronic devices like smartphones with them and maybe only battery powered GPS devices. So, expect many people on adventures around the world not to find out about all this for a month or two now. This is just what happens. When World war II started it was like this too then also.
There is a movie "7 years in Tibet" that goes into this too starring Brad Pitt as a true mountain Climbing Austrian in India climbing the Himalayas when World war II breaks out.
