My Brilliant Friend 2nd season just started.

The story of two Italian girls in Italy with subtitles in the 1950s started it's 2nd season this week if you already saw the first season. If not, it is very well done and worth watching and available on Amazon Prime right now. It is very realistic about how things actually were in Italy in the 1950s. Even in the U.S. Italian families were often like this as well that I met even here in the U.S. It was just the way most people thought then after world war II. There was a lot of pathos in the air from those who survived world War II but who lost friends and relatives who were shot, raped, or starved to death etc. during the war. So, it made people very paranoid much more so than now and you saw it in how people acted then. So, this is a very accurate depiction of two extremely intelligent girls trying to survive in Italy in the 1950s anyway that they could.

Much of this will be shocking to present day minds but since I lived in the U.S. as a child in the 1950s this seems pretty normal to me of how people actually were then in the 1950s. There was always a lot of paranoia and women had almost no rights compared to now whether it was Italy or the U.S. It's what people are like trying to heal after a really big war that destroyed everyone's lives in Europe. So, everyone had to completely rebuild their lives after the war ended in 1945. So, this is likely around 10 years later or 1955 to 1957 I would say. during the show the Theme from "a summer place" is playing which came out in 1959 so I would say they are both at least 18 to 20 years old in the beginning of the 2nd season at least but not over 21 or 22. I think they are both the same age. So, 10 years before would have been about 1949 only 4 years after the war around the time this series began. So, it starts between 1946 to 1949 I would say and now the beginning of the 2nd season they are both grown up and college age and it's 1959.
