Philosophic inquiry

Is the act of asking pertinent questions to the problems you face in your life at each and every point.

Religions often want you to not question anything which I find to be the problem with all religions.

The only religion interested in philosophic inquiry at the level I practice it is Tibetan Buddhism where philosophic inquiry is actually encouraged so more people can survive at 8000 feet elevation to 15,000 feet elevation where most Tibetans actually live. If you have ever tried to survive at any altitude above about 3500 feet you will know what I'm talking about.

For example,  my wife wouldn't listen to me while we were visiting Lake Tahoe which is over 6000 feet altitude and got smoke inhalation from a fire there and had to spend the night in the hospital for smoke inhalation. But, I understood because she had not grown up a mountain climber like me but instead grew up a heavy weather sailor on a yacht so she didn't understand such things and so didn't listen to me when she needed to.

You have to know what questions to ask to survive any given situation.

The people not asking the right questions are the ones now dying in New York City every day now.

It's unfortunate but true.
