A Wing now on a plane is designed to have the air flow faster over the top than over the bottom of the wing. This creates a "Vertical Suction" or LIFT in a way that sucks the plane up into the air. The faster this plane goes forward the more vertical suction lifts the plane higher and higher. A Bird's wing is the same principle.
But, if you stall the wing by losing forward momentum through the air then the wings stall and the bird or plane falls pretty swiftly out of the air and to the ground.
