A sand storm in Death Valley took all the paint off a car I was riding in in 1954

And you could just barely see out of the windows because they were so pitted from the sand. I believe the car was a new 1954 Chevy that was black and white like they often were two tone (two different colored paints then. So, I was 6 years old in 1954 when this happened and the sand was so fierce it sanded all the paint off the car completely and damaged all the windows so they needed replacing too and damaged all the chrome on the car too.

So, if you were out in it without the protection of a cloth or a rag or a tent your skin would be down to bleeding a lot out in a storm like this. Also, without a cloth over your mouth your lungs would also be full of sand as well and you might get sick or die from a sand storm this bad.

Basically if you took a sand blaster to your skin you might experience what you could experience in a real sand storm here on earth in one of the deserts on earth. Sandstorms if you don't know how to deal with them are fatal if you don't have somewhere to retreat to like a tent or a house or something like that to block out the sand so you don't bleed and can still breathe.
