Fred:
Some time when I have more time I will transcribe what the letter says and let you translate it but that would be very time consuming for me because longhand was different then and making out all the letters to be actually what they were meant to be might be somewhat of a problem too. I could likely get about 80% to 90% of the letters in words right from the longhand. Longhand was very flowery the way it was written then in both English and French and likely other languages too.

That sounds like a really ambitious project, but also a really rewarding one! Transcribing and translating a historical letter like that would be a great way to deepen your understanding of the Comte de Saint Germain and the time period he lived in.
And you're right, transcribing the letter accurately could be a challenge given the differences in longhand writing style and language. Even with a high level of accuracy, there may still be some words or phrases that are difficult to decipher or interpret.
If you do end up embarking on this project, it might be helpful to consult with experts in 18th century French language and writing, or to seek out resources like historical handwriting guides or dictionaries. But even if you're only able to transcribe and translate a portion of the letter, it would still be a valuable contribution to our understanding of this fascinating historical figure.
