If you have never climbed a mountain with the conditions of some place like Mt. Shasta or more difficult than that you might not know first hand what an Ice Axe or Crampons are. IF they are used properly they will save your life again again and again. But, if you don't know how to use them right they also might cost you your life in many different situations. So, be sure you know how to use them properly or climb with someone who does who can teach you so you survive climbing a peak like Mt. Shasta.
