Especially people without electricity or affordable electricity will move underground more and more in the future

Here are some relevant articles about this.

  • If you wonder how animals survive the extreme heat of deserts or the extreme old of arctic places often it is by living underground in burrows of various kinds. And it is likely that humans started living in caves too to stave off the cold of winter and the heat of summer as well as all the storms of various kinds where you would be impervious to most hurricanes and tornadoes for example if you were living underground in a cave or underground house that was built in some way. The earth or rock above you shelters you from dust storms and wind storms and hurricanes and various other kinds of storms as well (hot or cold or whatever).

So, since underground places to live often stay around 60 degrees whether it's snowing outside or 120 degrees outside it might be useful more and more to live underground in order so more people might survive on into the future without electricity. the biggest problem often is ventilation so you have enough fresh air but that can also be managed by the way you organize venting ports in winter and summer especially letting in cool night air in summers or letting in warmer air during the days during the winters. Or closing off these vents during sandstorms or other kinds of storms during any time of the year.
