Because it's sort of like Telling people not to be who they already are. It's like telling people to not shit when they have to. When you repress people's speech (whatever it is left, right or center) you are creating an environment for even more violence and mayhem than we have already seen.
This is the problem of repressing ANYONE's Right to Free Speech about anything.
It's just a part of the human condition for people to have strong opinions and when ANY free speech is repressed violence often is the result of the constipation of the individual from being repressed.
The answer is to be more polite and sophisticated about viewing all issues from the point of view of trying to keep everyone alive.
If either side or sides says things that are harmful to the other side it is likely that violence could come.
This is a two way or more street with multiple points of view are expressed or repressed.
So, this present repression of people's points of view is repressed violence is the natural result.
We are on a slippery slope now which easily could result in some type of Civil War.
