It looks like some snow every day for 6 days for Zell Am See in Austria where we were a few days ago now

That doesn't mean the snow is going to stick necessarily yet it just means it's going to snow some. While we were there it snowed almost every day some above 9000 to 10,000 feet which is above tree line there. I never did get it clear what the altitude of Tree line was in feet but I did see the snow above this tree line in Austria then. In Mt. Shasta Tree line is usually around 8000 feet or a little higher on Mt. Shasta in California where I used to live and built a house on 2 1/2 acres of land starting in 1980 with my family then.

In 1980 my son born in 1974 and my step children born before this were 5 to 8  years old when we moved out onto the land then.

But now, my son born in 1974 is 51 years old and has a wife and son himself and all my younger children are either married or living with someone or have children too. I also have an adopted Daughter who has two sons and a husband and she is 40 years old too and they are the only ones still living in California in the San Diego Area.

We made it back to our Santa Barbara home yesterday. We flew non-stop into Los Angeles from Munich, Germany two days ago now and stayed overnight at a hotel near LAX and then got up and rented a car and drove to Santa Barbara. This is because we flew out of San Francisco at the beginning of this trip so we weren't sure when we started exactly how we were going to finish this trip.

There are always a lot of unknown variables when you travel outside of the U.S. that are usually somewhat unforeseen, like learning to drive in another country with other rules.

So, being at least psychologically prepared for this is often important.

I find at this point (77 years of age) that adaptability might be the most important quality to have to survive this far into old Age. I'm not sure where old age begins anymore but I think starting to prepare for getting older you have to start to do by age 50 if you are going to keep going very far after that.

Luckily at age 50 I almost died for about 9 months from a heart virus. Why Luckily? Because it forced me to retire and to learn to adapt young to retirement and being older.

I often watch people do one of two things when they get older.

1. They believe (wrongly so) that they are still 25 and this kills them because if you don't slow down enough you are going to die younger.

2. They are workaholics and cannot survive retirement because they don't have enough interests to keep them alive.

Overeating or over drinking or drugs kills a lot of people too.

One of the best things to be doing when you retire is having been married and raising kids. Why?

Because taking care of another and taking care of your children allows you to take care of yourself like you are one of your children as you get older so you live longer and longer.

Going to a good doctor that you trust who is a good diagnostician is also a way to survive longer too.

Finding a way forward after 50 is part of how you live to be 100 potentially (or at least 90).

It is said, 'If you live to be 30 you likely will live to be 90" here in the U.S.

By God's Grace
