I have noticed this a lot. The problem is they don't realize what they can survive and keep going. Maybe they just want they are sunshine people who can't handle the rain?
I had to survive so many health issues by age 15 that even a heart virus at 50 didn't kill me like it did everyone else I knew of.
So, remember if something bad happens to you and you have had a really easy life you might survive this too.
In ships the young men were the first to drown under about 21 years of age. Also, bell bottoms could be filled with air like life preservers. This was the main reason sailors wore bell bottoms in case their ship sank so they might survive it especially in battle.
Whereas the older men (especially over 25) had been through so much already they knew they might survive even when the ship sank if they didn't panic. But, the younger men not having been through as much just churned water got hopeless and died a lot from panic when their ships blew up and saw many friends die or be blown apart by cannons.
Keeping your head when everyone else is losing theirs is how people survive to be 100 by the way.
Especially after 40 panic is fatal. But, it can be fatal at any age as well.
