40 years ago I was in India today and Yesterday. Here is what I wrote in my journal then

February 13 1986:

We are in New Delhi Again. Geshela and the other Dharma Lamas altar the reality of time and space sometimes really makes me nervous sometimes. Now I know how others feel when I altar time and space to help them survive here on earth. Geshela maybe at Shere Punjab tomorrow. We Rowshan (age 12) wants to live in Rewalsar because she made a good friend there for one year but we said no. She really relates to Mandrava the princess taught by Padmasambhava before he took Buddhism to Tibet as a Mahasiddha.

February 14th 1986:

Staying at the Hotel Vishal. No Geshela yet. I'm feeling better. Bought strepsils as we all have strep throat (Chris hasn't had it yet) (age 14). Months traveling have their ups and downs. Chris and all will go to see the Cobra man (a cobra snake charmer) who has taken Chris under his wing so to speak.

It is good to have western food to eat again at the Lord's Restaurant. there was no western food at all in Rewalsar and I was getting quite thin. I'm making a comeback now I think. I met an old man with a turban named Sardar Singh. He tole my fortune. He vibed out the real McCoy. He said I have a pure heart. He said a business with a bald man and buying a house with fruit trees on it with 2.8 million dollars and coming to Tibet and India. with a lady with this money. Don't make friends with the letter B. Don't loan money. Don't gamble.

However, the reality was in the coming years that I lived on one acre of land with Fruit trees that we rented in Mt. Shasta from 1990 to 1992 which is where I saw the Flying Saucer that I had seen  at Bunny Flat in 1974 (the print of it in the snow). I didn't buy a house with fruit trees though and I didn't return to India and never went to Tibet with 2.8 million dollars. So, looking back it is sort of funny but the fruit trees on the 1 acre we rented was true.  :) :) :)

By the way which was stranger? going to India and Nepal or seeing Flying saucers? I think they were both equally strange and like being on another planet more than anything else from December of 1985 until almost April of 1986 we were in Japan, Thailand, Nepal and India. But mostly we were in Nepal 2 months and India two months and we trekked 50 miles in and out of the Helambu region which is near the road that goes over to Lhasa Tibet from Nepal over a 20,000 foot pass. We hiked up to 10,000 feet and got snowed on but luckily we were staying in a Sherpa house with our guides Aunt at this point so we didn't completely freeze to death then. We were so remote there wasn't any AC electricity for 25 to 30 miles from us then and no phones that far away too and no cars or trucks or buses that far away too. Just miles of trails and suspension bridges across rivers and wide steep canyons and the Himalayn Mountains. No roads because they would all wash away during the monsoons.

end note from 2026:

This was a completely amazing time in my life and my exes life and our children's life and made them all world travelers after that when they all grew up.
