Christians think this way because most Buddhists don't believe in God. Instead they believe in Buddha and compassion for all life in the universe. So, it doesn't compete as a religion to them like say Islam or Hinduism do which relate to a God or Gods.
So, sort of like Hatha Yoga, Catholic Priests and Christian Ministers are often practicing Buddhists at the same time as being Christian Priests or Ministers. This is even more true with people of faith all over the world.
Because of this I see myself as a Mystical Christian Tibetan Buddhist because this suits my individual mind stream the best.
In fact, my luck changed in life incredibly after I became a Tibetan Buddhist in addition to growing up a Mystical Christian like I was raised to be by my parents who were mystical Christian ministers who ran their own church in Los Angeles as I was growing up. My mother even gave 300 or more funerals from 1954 until 1960 while they were in charge of this church as members passed away.
However, I often found Christians while I was growing up incredible Racists and hostile towards anyone different than themselves.
So, in my 20s I searched for something better for myself because I was never a racist and always believed in "LIVE AND LET LIVE". When you are a racist often you are killing others through words or deeds. This is what I noticed growing up and this is really BAD KARMA and "What goes around Comes Around".
So, since I became Buddhist in addition to being a Christian my luck has become amazing in life in every way for my family and my fortune and for my life in General by adding Buddhist Compassion for all life in the universe including dogs and cats and all animals and birds and trees and fish and plants and everything alive in the universe.
So, it could be said: "Becoming a Buddhist who is also a mystical Christian has saved my life and many other lives too."
