It is not technologically feasible to transport Oil Tankers through the Straight of Hormuz under present conditions. Why?

 Iran never used big ships like destroyers or battleships to stop oil tankers before.

What they used before is something the size of Zodiaks that are partly inflatable with machine guns and Scuba divers who attach mines to the sides (underwater) of Oil tankers. So, they don't need destroyers to do this just Zodiaks with Scuba divers and that's all. Maybe they would need electric underwater machines to transport the scuba divers long distance to the Oil Tankers or aircraft carriers but that is all they would need to stop Oil Traffic of 20% of the oil that travels all over the world. And people wouldn't necessarily know that anyone was under the water there because it would be so quiet and they could use re-breathers so there wouldn't be any bubbles showing coming up from Scuba Tanks.

NOTE: I got my Scuba diving license when I was between 12 and 14 years old in Southern California and I have been down about 50 feet underwater off of Catalina Island in I think it's called Emerald Cove where I went down the anchor chain and the dive ship looked like it was sitting on top of a telephone pole or something like this in the very clear water there that day. end note. 

So, I know a lot about Scuba Stuff having done that a lot then and I still snorkel with a mask and snorkel in Hawaii every time I go there to this day even though I'm now in my late 70s. We go often to Hawaii about once every year or two now and often stay there on two or more different islands for 2 to 3 weeks time. 

Also, the metal sides of an oil tanker are usually about 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches thick metal and an aircraft carrier is about 4 inches thick of metal. So, an oil tanker can blow up and sink pretty easily but an aircraft carrier doesn't.

Also, if the Iranians sank a nuclear powered Aircraft carrier (and they all are nuclear now from the U.S.) they would create a permanent radiation zone that could make living anywhere near this wreck uninhabitable for thousands of years. So, this might make people have to move 300 to 500 miles away not to die of radiation poisoning for the next 1000 years of more.
