Why? Because food has to be hauled from where it is grown to where you live. So, unless you are going to a farm to buy your food direct from the farmer you are going to pay higher prices for everything because of the gas or diesel it took to get it to you. So, the cost of everything including food and everything else shipped to you is going to be more regarding growing the food, hauling the food to you, the electricity is going to cost more because of higher Natural Gas prices and the gas you put in your car is going to cost more. So, literally everything you buy or consume is going to cost more than it did before (possibly by a lot more) during these times.
What can be done to change all this?
This is the question the whole world is asking right now.
But, in the meantime (possibly for the next year or more gas prices and diesel prices will likely double or more during the next year or so.
So, having a solar array on your roof and maybe an electric car like a Tesla Model X which is supposed to pay for itself within 5 years (at least in California) where energy prices are so high because of gas taxes which repair all our roads is a given.
So, if you have your own solar power that you charge your electric car up with then the gas prices are completely meaningless to you ongoing.
However, then you have to wait to charge your vehicles and hour or more before you can use them too to charge up your batteries to use your electric vehicle unless you own a hybrid which still burns gas.
However, unless you live somewhere like California that has electric charging stations all over the place now you might want a hybrid so you can actually drive where you want to here in the U.S. without charging problems (unless you are going to carry your own generator to recharge your vehicle along with.you.
