"There but for the Grace of God go we all"

 What does this mean?

First, it means without God's Grace we are all dead right now. 

It means you or your family are praying for you or both and God saves you from illness or danger in your life.

When this happens over and over in your life like I have experienced since at least age 2 then one can say, "I AM only alive by the Grace of God".

So, being Grateful to God every moment of every day is a useful response which creates ever more Grace into your life ongoing both while you are alive on earth and after.
