Moderation in Everything-The Ancient Greeks

I have watched people who are too extreme in every way bite the dust all my life including my own father from his extreme points of view. Like for example, he didn't like doctors and so when he was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer he told me he was going to cure his cancer with a macrobiotic diet. What happened?

He died from his prostate cancer metastacizing from his prostate to this bladder and one of his kidneys and then he had his prostate bladder and one kidney removed and because he had waited too long to remove his prostate he died a year later from bone cancer.

What did I learn from watching my father die like this?

I learned that being too extreme in almost any direction is often fatal.

So, I learned that just not liking doctors doesn't keep you alive.

I also learned this in my parents church watching person after person after person die from not going to doctors (sort of like a Christian Science approach to life) where doctors are never brought in and then people die usually.

However, my father might say: "The did what they believed". And my reaction to this would be:

"They did what they believed and this killed them all before their time".

So, my point of view from all this is "Moderation in all things" or looking at it in a Buddhist way "The Middle Way Path of Lam Rim.

So, the best way to say this is almost always "Extremism Kills" whereas moderation often helps you alive a really long time.

By God's Grace
