I was surprised that Antarctica is actually about twice as big as Australia. So, eventually a lot of people might move there (just like Canada and Siberia) to keep cooler most of the year than at the equator.

- Size Comparison: At 14.2 million km², Antarctica is the fifth-largest continent, about 1.5 times the size of the USA and roughly twice the size of Australia.
- Land Under Ice: While covered by an ice sheet averaging 1.9 km thick, the underlying landmass constitutes a significant continental area that dwarfs Australia.
- Seasonal Changes: The total area of Antarctica expands to over 30 million km² in winter as the surrounding seas freeze, nearly four times the size of the Australian mainland.
- Australian Antarctic Territory: Interestingly, Australia claims a massive section of Antarctica, the , which is 5.89 million km², or about 42% of the entire continent.
