The Problem as I see it

Here is the problem: In the past like in the Balkan War President Clinton eventually intervened along with NATO to end it because of the atrocities against both Muslims and Christians happening there. Now the atrocities started by the Shia government of Assad raping and killing women and children who were demonstrating against the government of Assad as well as torturing them in other ways. But now, just like in the Balkan War atrocities are on both sides now in different ways. If the U.S. hadn't just been in two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan for 12 years already likely we would already be there in Syria along with NATO doing something similar to what we did in the Balkan war.

However, if we can't even fix our infrastructure and build bridges that don't fall down when an over  sized truck or trucks hit girders because of an outmoded bridge design then we obviously don't have the resources to get involved in Syria like we did in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Balkans along with NATO. Also, Europe is going through an economically hellish time now especially Greece, Spain, Italy, Ireland and Portugal. They really don't need to be sending anymore NATO forces anywhere for the time being either. So, what does this mean for the world? It means times have changed and the U.S. along with all other nations are not as rich as they once were just after World War II up to about the Arab Oil Embargo of 1973 when gas prices first doubled, then tripled then quadrupled for the U.S. Also, wages are now too high in the U.S. to replace the infrastucture we desperately need to to save American lives traveling in the U.S. All the dynamics of life in the U.S. and around the world have changed dramatically. That doesn't mean the U.S. won't do anything it feels it has to. But, at this point unless the European Union, Israel, the U.S. or some other country we are allies with gets attacked it isn't likely we are going to go in anywhere in force militarily for some time yet.
