Where I am on the coast it was in the mid 60s today. However, inland in Redding it was 101 degrees Fahrenheit and further south past Los Angeles it was 113 degrees in Palm Springs in the desert. All of these temperatures are sort of normal for this time of year. But, I thought you might be interested in Temperatures in California North, West, and South. I have personally been in 117 degrees outside my car and it felt like an oven then in Palm Springs and I have driven through 125 degrees and even lived for several days without air conditioning once with my father while doing mining essaying work in Arizona for a week while camping in the back of our pickup truck near Gila Bend, Arizona in the 1970s in the 120 degree range. The coldest it got then was 100 degrees at 6 am. I was glad to be done with that.
We have had a lot of high fog which is kind of normal but what isn't so normal is the low fog coming down into the trees and sometimes along the ground. It hasn't been so thick where you can't see more than 2 to 5 feet. Instead it is fog that you can see at least 50 to 100 feet through it but very vaguely. So, the high fog is normal on the Northern California coast and temperatures in the 50s and 60s day and night in the high or low fog. What happens is when it gets really hot inland it sucks the fog off the ocean inland from 5 to 20 to 50 miles depending upon the day here in northern California in June and sometimes in July and August too. So, we are only getting sunny days pretty much 2 to 5 hours every third or fourth day in the present weather patterns here on the northern California coast.
However, many people like to drive to the northern California coast as a rest from 90 to 100 degree temperatures in the summer time inland. Also, the redwoods and pines and oaks and ferns all do well because they partly live on the fog catching in their needles and leaves as water during the summers and winters or whenever it comes onto land from the sea.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
