When Obama withdrew our soldiers from Iraq it was mainly because the Iraqi government that we helped create as a democracy there would not allow U.S. soldiers NOT to be prosecuted in their courts of Law.
The U.S. had two choices then: the first choice was to tell the Iraqi government to go fuck themselves and that if they imprisoned or attacked U.S. soldiers for any reason we would overthrow their government.
Or we could leave like we did.
So, on the world stage there was no real choice but to leave then otherwise we were not doing what we said we would do for Iraqis and the whole world. Leaving was the honorable thing to do then.
However, it is also true that ISIS would not exist if we just told the Iraq government to submit to U.S. will or else.
However, we would have lost respect around the world for doing this by all civilized nations.
However, then ISIS would not exist now either.
So, is hindsight better than foresight?
I don't know.
There were no good choices then or now and McCain saying what he did is sort of fairy tale thinking now after the fact.
So, because what he is saying both was and is unrealistic I disagree with him.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
