Buddhism is to HInduism what Protestantism is to Catholicism

Why? Guatama Buddha or Siddhartha Buddha was born a Prince of the Hindu Kingdom of Lumbini which was along the Nepal India border 2500 years ago. It was predicted by Seers that he would become a great spiritual leader of mankind. However, his father didn't want this and wanted his son to inherit the kingdom of Lumbini and become it's next King. So, he forbade Siddhartha to leave the Palace and see beggers and poor people and old people and any diseases killing people.

But, one day Siddhartha went out and saw sick and dying people and vowed to help people deal with sickness and death better as his mission in life.

He became a renunciate in the forest like a Sadhu at first and one day while fasting on nothing he heard a music teacher tell his student. "The string on the instrument must be not too tight or too loose. If it is strung too tight it will break but if it is strung too loose it won't sound right. So, the balance must be found of the right tension on the string for the best sound without the string breaking on the instrument."

When he heard this it began his Lam Rim path which is called the Middle Path of Buddhism which is similar to the "nothing in excess" of the Greeks or "Everything in moderation".

"Everything in moderation often leads to a good and long life for almost everyone by the way."

So, this middle path of Buddhism became known as the 8 fold path of the Lam rim or "Middle way Path".

Many millions of people have become enlightened along this path the last 2500 years or more.

25% of Buddhists believe in God by the way. I see myself as a mystical Christian Tibetan Buddhist.

The Lam Rim path is based upon compassion for oneself and all beings in the universe in the past, present and future. Enlightenment is reached by developing right mindful compassion for oneself and all beings in the past, present and future of the whole universe.
