regarding snow cornice pictures above Castle Lake
I put into google images "Snow cornices above Castle lake" and you can see what the result was which is a mixed bag. But, if you look through them carefully you can see in one or more pictures the cornices which can occur above Castle lake on a good snow year like this one which can cause avalanches both big and small. Yes. They are beautiful but you don't want to be just below one when the let loose into an avalanche.
