Scientists know we are in an excursion or a reversal

Time will tell which it is. So, even though a good portion of Global Climate change is man made another portion of it is a Geomagnetic reversal or a Geomagnetic Excursion.

Why aren't governments talking about this too?

Because they don't want to scare the ignorant masses here on earth?

Why?

Because a Geomagnetic Excursion usually lasts about 1000 years and a Geomagnetic Reversal lasts usually around 10,000 years.

During this time (1000 to 10,000 years) the magnetosphere goes to zero to 10% of normal in many places (which it already has started doing around 2000 AD. So now, places in the arctic and antarctic have no magnetosphere some times during the year. This means there is nothing to stop cosmic rays beating down in parts of the arctic and Antarctic and also could be part of the problem with extreme weather changes not only in the arctic and antarctic but also in the rest o the world.

Why are governments afraid to tell people about this?

Because one of the effects is genetic mutations over time of everything with DNA that is above 10 feet underground or 50 feet under water. In other words everything above 10 feet deep in the earth or above 50 feet underwater has continually been mutating every time an excursion or reversal has happened. (The last excursion was 40,000 years ago by the way). The last reversal was much longer ago than that.

How do we know this is going on?

IT's the main reason GPS navigation systems had to be invented in the 1970s. Otherwise we still could use magnetic NOrth and magnetic South for navigation. That was no longer possible because of roaming magnetic north and South since at least 1900 or before.

So, GPS satellites had to replace magnetic north and magnetic south in the 1970s because navigation was no longer safe enough the other way anymore. So, this is how we know an excursion or a reversal is taking place here on earth now as the magnetic poles speed up their movements every year now all the time.

And this is why magnetic North and magnetic South aren't useful anymore for specific navigation, especially of jets around the globe.
