When I grew up more people believed in God than they do now here in the U.S. IF you didn't believe in God people might think you strange, so if you didn't believe in God often it was wise not to talk about it at all because you might not be able to get a job or have a decent life then in the 1950s.
But, if you are asking "Should People Believe in God?" it is mostly about your personal experiences in your lives more than any other thing. What is your experience? To deny your experiences is to be suicidal, whatever your experiences are.
I think religion is slavery mostly of human beings. But, this is just my personal point of view regarding all religions. But, believing in God or Buddha is a personal experience and a personal preference. I mean, some people believe in Disneyland and that is like there religion and they dress up on Halloween as their favorite Disney Character and go to Halloween in Disneyland that way, so it is like having their own religious experience I guess in that way.
But, for me, believing in God is a very personal experience and without believing in God I would have died at age 2 from whooping cough and between ages 10 and 15 from Blunt Trauma childhood epilepsy. So, for me, believing in God was a life or death choice at age 2 and at ages 10 to 15. And after all that believing in God was what kept me alive at many different points in my life all the way to now at age 71.
Because of Islamic Terrorists many people in the U.S. and Europe now refuse to believe in ANY religion because they feel religions contribute to human extinction through nukes and pandemics which is a valid point of view, at least intellectually speaking.
However, when you have no hope because of a health or mental health condition and you have nowhere to turn (like what happened to me in the 1950s as a child, Maybe you too will believe in God in order to stay alive when literally nothing else is going to work for you.
Believing in God on down through the centuries is really much less about tradition and more about trying to find a way to stay alive when things are rough and knowing you might die (from any cause).
So, should you believe in God?
That really depends upon what you are presently facing or will face in your life from now on forward in your life doesn't it?

Note: The point I'm trying to make is that people generally believe in God because if they didn't they would be dead at one point or another during their lives. If you understand this about people who believe in God, you sort of understand everything about people who believe in God.
However, from my point of view, religion is a whole other thing entirely about governments and controlling people's thoughts down through the centuries and enslaving them to one point of view or another.
Men made religions but God is a personal experience that anyone can have for a lifetime and beyond.
