 SHOW TRANSCRIPT
On Tuesday, the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) reported that up to 24 passengers of the Grand Princess cruise ship will be relocated to Asilomar State Beach and Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove for the rest of their 14-day quarantine.

Who will be sent here?

All of the people brought to Pacific Grove have been screened by medical professionals, and because they have mild symptoms they do not require hospitalization.

Do they have coronavirus?

None of these passengers are known to have contracted novel coronavirus (COVID-19), but they will be tested and monitored by medical professionals while at Asilomar.

Why aren't they being kept at Travis Air Force Base?

Travis Air Force Base is being used for passengers who require hospitalization. In addition, if they do not have COVID-19 there is a concern that if they remain around infected passengers they could get the virus later. Finally, the state said they are also making sure to maintain military readiness at Travis Air Force Base.

Will these people be in public?

According to Cal OES, "The individuals will be temporarily housed in buildings that are removed from visitors and the public, and will not interact with other Asilomar guests, employees or the general public."

Why Asilomar and not Camp Roberts?

According to Monterey County District Supervisor Mary Adams, the Asilomar State Beach location met all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention requirements for quarantine and was close to medical facilities like CHOMP.
