Trump decided in the spring that since people in blue states like New York and California that he didn't care if they died en masse if they died from coronavirus because it was mostly states like Washington, Oregon, California and New York that were dying then and other east coast more blue states surrounding New York State also then.
However, he didn't reckon (then or now) with how his not wearing a mask might infect or kill many many Republican people in the red States (his supporters) later in the year.
So, this is where we actually are where blue states wear masks and have many less problems and red states and red cities do not wear masks and so they are dying like flies now. So, now Trump and 8 other members of his Republican governing party have coronavirus and he is in the hospital. That's actually how we got here.
