I'm presently writing in compose mode because that is about 100 times easier for me to do. Right above where I'm typing this is a horizontal line of symbols. If you are already in compose mode you will see what looks like a pencil at an angle with the eraser on top to the far left. Click on that. It should have opened a window where on top it says "HTML view" and on the bottom it will say "compose view". If you are working in HTML directly click on HTML view but if not and you want to work with an auto-encoder click on "Compose View.
If you are in HTML view you see different symbols there than a pencil but if you click them the same window opens up for you to change views either direction.
