Saying "NO" to alcohol began among young people strongly starting around 1965 to 1970

On one level the reason for this was how many people all of us saw beat up or raped from people influenced by the barbituate and depressive: Alcohol. So, most of us were just tired of all the violence and mayhem we had already witnessed among friends and acquaintances. People who went to college often replaced Alcohol with marijuana, but that created other problems because people could go to jail for this then most places in the U.S. So, in the 1960s marijuana was NOT a good choice as a substitute for Alcohol (especially for people younger than 21 and in college).

It was because of all the blood from people getting beat up by someone drunk or someone being raped because of the loss of control alcohol gives some people that people stopped thinking alcohol was a good idea, especially among college students starting around 1965 and after.
