Safe in Santa Barbara

The highest temperatures we saw driving south from the SF Bay area today was in the low 80s which was quite a relief from yesterday when many of the temperatures would have been up to 105 along Highway 101 especially through San Ardo. What I found interesting was the highest temperartures today that we saw actually were just before Buellton just before you reach the coast and head south towards Santa Barbara on 101.

The hills are no longer green and are beige and brown now a lot even though all the oaks especially are still very green most of them look like they got enough rain this year at least north of Santa Barbara.

I felt very integrated into the AI and computer system today more than ever before driving south with our Subaru when I let it drive so I could actually let it drive closer to 90% of the time because for some reason they time we headed south there wasn't much traffic for some reason. What was especially interesting is usually there is a back up or small traffic jam for 5 or 10 miles along Pismo Beach but there wasn't one today. So, we got to Santa Barbara in record time because of the lack of traffic. So, we turned on the air conditioning in the house because the house was about 75 degrees inside and we like a house to be somewhere between about 65 and 70 degrees.(68 during the day if possible and maybe 70 from around 6 to until we go to bed and then 67 degrees for sleeping. For us, these are the best and most optimum temperatures in our house in the SF Bay area. So, we are now trying to move the temperature down from about 75 in the house when we arrived in Santa Barbara down to at least 70 degrees while we are here.

By the way if you live anywhere along the coast the best method we have found to prevent mold in California is to leave your heater on at 65 degrees even if you are not there. We know people  who didn't know about this and have 200,000 dollars in mold damage from living along the coast. So, what we do at both houses SB and SF Bay area is to always leave the heater on at 65 degrees. However, this time of year there is the opposite problem beginning so we might decide to leave the air conditioner on somewhere between 70 and 75.

Though you never usually need an Air Conditioner on the coast up north nearer to San Francisco you almost always are going to need one at some point during the summers in Santa Barbara and this is likely true from San Luis Obispo all the way to San Diego even along the coast.

Another tip is leave a low voltage light bulb on 24 hours a day year around in your closets if your closet has any lights. You only need one lower voltage light to prevent mold sort of like Sailboats or yachts keep on 24 hours a day to prevent mold in their yacht as well for when they aren't there.
