I think it began because I started remembering past lives (and sometimes future lives) very young. Also, my parents though they were mystical Christian also believed in reincarnation like many early Christians did too until Kings and Potentates started killing them all.
It was easier to have the peasants ignorant and then you could use Hell, Fire and Brimstone on them as children to terrify them into being life long Slaves.
Whereas if you believe in reincarnation you always have 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and so on chances of correcting any mess you made in your present life instead of people being brainwashed that they will go to hell forever which is a terrifying concept that only the ignorant likely really believe anyway. Only the truly childlike and gullible worldwide would even begin to believe something like this especially as adults.
But, for me, it's likely these memories of being a Roman Centurian at the time of Jesus' death on the Cross and knowing him then and many other lifetimes from then until now that made me interested in writing about Time Travel because as Souls we all travel time as we reincarnate (those that do or more precisely those that choose to reincarnate to learn Free Will and the proper use of it for God and all life in the universe.
So, writing about Time travel I find very healing because after all Time travel is mostly about 2nd chances ongoing forever.
So, whenever something goes bad you might be able to change it next time in your next life to something better.
