In order to have something that is donation and volunteer driven afloat it is necessary for it to be funded somehow just like public TV and Public Radio. So, because of this my wife and I try to help make sure things like Wikipedia (as a knowledge base that goes worldwide in various languages) and public TV which gives deeper meaning to life than other channels that are more corporate driven as well as public Radio which often is useful in the same ways as public TV to bring more culture into people's lives as well.
So, supporting various non-profits helps all of us live better lives so everything isn't completely based upon making a buck for big corporations especially regarding news that is altered a lot by corporations for various reasons to the detriment of the whole world.
