Like Monasteries on a Hill
Many of you are last places of refuge for your children, grandchildren, God children and others you may be mentoring. For those that have enough and are willing to share with and to care for others, it is important to recognize your position in the long train of history. Once your own parents and grandparents were in positions of financial stability and everyone looked to them too. Often you are the difference between whether someone has a meal or a safe place to be for the night or not. All of us in this position are like "Monasteries on the Hill". I often picture a Monastery high in the Himalayas that is a refuge for all who need it in a storm. We all have some icon in our minds that gives us hope and strength to help others no matter what it is. It is always important to give gratitude to our maker for what we have to share and to right mindfully and in a compassionate way to share what we choose to share with others. But, most of all remember your responsibility to the future and to the present and to try not to get lost in the past which is gone but which might have been nice once too.
