This is more what it actually looks like to me than anything else. Because Russia's involved in supplying weapons like fighter planes and other weapons to Iraq it is too dangerous for Saudi Arabia and other Sunni nations to fight out in the open with their armies against Iran. However, through ISIL they can and are making sure as many Shias as possible die as well as the destruction of as many Shia Mosques north of Baghdad as possible are blown up and destroyed. So, in this Proxy way Saudi Arabia and all Sunni nations are fighting Iran and Syria's Assad as well as Maliki in this proxy war in Iraq. Because weapons and fighters of all kinds and all ages are now flocking to ISIL from throughout the Sunni world.
But, in the end what will this mean, really?
It might mean that Iran, Lebanon, Syria and even Saudi ARabia and Israel are no more.
So, this might be a literal fight to the death for many countries and some countries and governments might not be there after the dust clears from all this. (Whenever that happens).
It feels almost as crazy as people talked about how World War II was when I was growing up in the 1950s.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
