The Wild West?

I realized it might be useful for people to better understand why so many people get shot here in the U.S.

My point of view is sort of that the people we were during the Revolutionary War in the 1770s we still sort of are still.

It is still sort of "Don't Tread on me" with a whole lot of rugged individualism.

In other countries this individualism might be put down in various ways. However, rugged individualism still is what made this country great.

It was people deciding themselves what they were going to do and following through. And often violence could be a component of this in various ways. Though this is all less now, try looking at an old western like "Gunsmoke" or something like this. In it you find a lot how people were still a lot in the 1950s when I grew up.

Though people often have changed a lot now everything before the 1950s and 1960s has a great influence on everyone. So, sometimes when people cannot get their grievances met with satisfaction they will resort to firearms.

People in other countries might admire the freedom we have here. But, it is freedom with a price.

I'm likely the first generation in my family that never had to shoot at anyone with a gun to defend myself or my family. Every single person before me that might not be said about.

However, it is true I'm much more of a diplomat than earlier members of my family. If you disagreed with them there might be a fight literally.

So, my generation preferred going to college and being more polite and genteel. So, rather than go through someone we are much more likely to keep our peace and go around someone instead. So, our point of view (since the 1960s) would be sort of like "Go where you want to go without having to kill anyone" more than previous generations.

Even though I greatly abhor political correctness because it is actually lying even more than diplomacy is, I also recognize it keeps more people alive in the process of political correctness.

For example, without political correctness Obama could never have become president and I support him as president and think he has been an important choice for the whole world as a leader. HE and Clinton are likely the two smartest presidents I have ever known about in my lifetime. Nixon was the best statesman worldwide and prevented a war with China and Russia. But, Obama has kept the peace since withdrawing from Iraq and now Afghanistan. So, in this sense I think political correctness has been wise for the world even though Putin is anti-semetic and anti-Black and doesn't like Obama because Putin is a racist.

So, hopefully this makes more sense to the world why there is so much gun violence in the U.S.

Another reason why we don't have the same kind of attacks they do in Paris is people can carry guns most places here if they have a permit. So, Paris attacks wouldn't happen here because people could shoot and kill those terrorists.

In fact, one of the gentleman (a private citizen) in a nearby business in San Bernadino put his gun and holster on to protect his co-workers next door to where the firing happened. So, he told the police about the black SUV so they could give chase. However, he couldn't get close enough to shoot the terrorists. (and this was a private citizen who armed himself to protect his co-workers nearby).

People in the western and Southern states are the most like this and the most likely to be armed, (Even in California). If you grew up in the 1950s like I did there were still elements of the wild west even in Los Angeles when I grew up. For example, my grandmother from Texas gave me my first rifle (long gun) a Remington pump .22 long rifle which could carry a bullet 1 mile even then. I was 8 years old. My father was given a gun at age 6, his brother 4 and their older brother 9 to go hunting in Coos Bay, Oregon. The gun my mother gave me to keep in my own bedroom with bullets and everything to (protect my family) was an honor. Because this meant my grandmother respected me enough to know I would protect my family with this weapon and also keep it safe from misuse.

It has been this way in the U.S. now for at least 400 years already.

There is a law still on the books in Los Angeles that says, "You may not shoot jackrabbits while riding a trolley in Los Angeles" This law is from I think the 1880s to 1890s.
