The Republican Party has been committing suicide since 2008

Why?

The Biggest Reason was that demographics had changed. The underpinnings were when Gore won the popular vote in 2000, making the last Presidents to actually win the popular vote for President as a newly elected President, Bush I and Reagan.

When something becomes impossible to do, people who want the impossible are going to be angry.

However, since 1988 it has boiled down to demographics and after 1988 there simply was never going to be enough White Republicans left to ever vote in another President ever again.

So, what did the Republican Party do?

The changed voting rights rules in Many states (especially Southern) to take away voting rights of minorities so at least at the local level they could still only vote in White Republicans. This was the response of the Republican Party to make voting in their states an ongoing farce rather than even vaguely resembling justice or voting rights.

Then they became unreasonable and illogical and irrational. When people want something that is impossible, often that group automatically becomes unreasonable, illogical and irrational.

But now, the end result of all that has brought us to Donald Trump and Sarah Palin in the driver's seat presently of the Republican Party. So, this is what being unreasonable, illogical and irrational brings in the end.

If the Trump-Palin ticket continues it is possible that this might also be the end of our democracy because most people just don't get our two party system has actually been dead since 1988 when Bush I was elected by the popular vote.

Until people get more realistic this problem won't be solved.

Some think the Republican party should fragment into 3 or 4 parties.

Some think other actions should be taken.

However, what is actually important is for a way to be found to preserve our system of government without disenfranchising voters all over the U.S. who are members of minorities.

Otherwise, there won't be a U.S. at all that any of us want to live in.
