All Electrical utility companies know this and so they are likely going to do everything in their power to keep solar cells off cars and off homes in the short and long run. One of the ways to do this is not to compensate people with solar arrays on their roofs properly for any power they sell back to the utility companies. If they can do this they can limit the amount of people who put solar arrays on their roofs.
But, it is important to recognize that solar and wind is the ultimate death of all electrical utility companies unless they can control Solar power themselves. If cars and homes can have solar power and they can go off the grid then Electrical utility companies don't have long for this world.
It's just a sign of the times we live in with incredible changes on the way over the next 10 to 20 years here in the U.S. and Europe and all around the world.
I think another way Electrical utility companies will deal with this is by also going into Gas and water and other types of venues. This would only be logical.
Also, as I thought more about this:
Some areas get less sun than others so wind power in the country might become more common where there is wind instead of sun. Or other places that get no sun much at all still might have Electrical utility companies fired by natural gas or coal or other things. However, in really sunny areas like California, and Arizona and Florida you might have only solar power year around. And whenever it was cloudy the grid would be run from the great batteries developed by companies like Tesla in these areas.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
